InnoviCares – The InnoviCares card is a free prescription savings card available to all Canadian residents, and is funded by participating pharmaceutical manufacturers.

Health Equipment Loan Program/Community Bed Loan Program (HELP) – Provides hospital-type beds to eligible Nova Scotians who need specialized beds in their homes. The loaned beds are delivered and assembled in the client’s home by the Canadian Red Cross – Nova Scotia Region.

Disability Support Program (DSP) – Provides support to individuals with intellectual/physical disabilities and/or long term mental illness. The policy includes information on program, financial eligibility and basic and special needs.

Direct Family Support for Children (DFSC) and Enhanced Family Support for Children (EFSC) – Provide funding to enable families to support their child with a disability at home. DFSC and EFSC provide funding for the purchase of respite services to assist with scheduled breaks for family care givers.

Flex Program– Support participants who live independently with support from family/support networks.

Community ACCESS-Ability Program– Provides grants for projects involved with improving accessibility.

Continuing Care – Provided to eligible people who need care outside of the hospital in their home and community. Care can be provided on a long or short-term basis

Home Care – Available to all Nova Scotians who need help with care in their homes and communities. Home Care Services supplement the help people already receive from their family, friends or community, by providing people the ability to remain as independent as possible by staying in their home and community.

Alternative Family Support Program (AFS)– Supports persons living with disabilities in approved, private family home, provides support and supervision

Licensed Homes for Special Care – The Disability Support Program (DSP) provides a continuum of residential support options for individuals with disabilities. The goal is to create a range of residential programs that can support people at various stages of their development and independence.

Adult Service Centres– Provides vocational support for adults with disabilities.

811 Informational Health Advice (866-770-7763) – Provides people the ability to talk to a registered nurse around the clock that provides information about services in the area, or general information about health care concerns.
