Managing life with mitochondrial disease is challenging – for patients, families and caregivers. Keeping track of your health history, appointments, test results, specialists and medications can be overwhelming. MitoCanada teamed up with Zamplo to help you manage all you need to keep track of. Zamplo is a smart phone app that empowers those living with mito to manage their health journey – digitally.
Zamplo’s impact on self-management in rare disease
Zamplo conducted a longitudinal, randomized controlled trial that investigated patient activation, self-efficacy, and pain management in Fabry disease. Patient activation refers to how much a person is informed, motivated, and confident in managing their health and healthcare. It means that patients understand their condition, feel they can make decisions about their care and are actively involved in taking steps to stay healthy or manage their illness.
The study revealed that the Zamplo health app improved patient-provider communication, patient activation, and financial satisfaction (resulting in a reduction in medication expenses). Learn more about Zamplo’s Fabry study below, and check out the app to see if it might be a helpful tool for you!
