Our mitoAmbassadors are passionate volunteers and advocates who lead with purpose in their communities, raising awareness, building connections, and strengthening the impact of MitoCanada. As part of MitoCanada’s national ambassador program, they build meaningful relationships and expand local networks to support awareness, education, and fundraising efforts across the country.

Representing MitoCanada as an Ambassador

mitoAmbassadors activities include:

  • Support MitoCanada’s initiatives: Participate in and support local awareness and fundraising activities
  • Share your voice: Deliver talks and presentations that inspire and educate about mitochondrial disease and MitoCanada’s work
  • Promote MitoCanada: Champion our mission within your community, leveraging your networks to raise awareness and inspire action
  • Coordinate local events: Partner with MitoCanada staff to plan and support awareness and fundraising events, including volunteer recruitment
  • Build community relationships: Connect with local businesses, community leaders, government representatives, and the public to grow support
  • Attend cheque presentations: Represent MitoCanada in celebrating and thanking donors and community partners
  • Drive participation: Promote events, encourage involvement, and help mobilize volunteers within your community

Qualities We’re Looking For

To be a mitoAmbassador, you:

  • Are a strong communicator with  interest in public speaking
  • Are organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently
  • Have strong local knowledge and can identify partnership and fundraising opportunities
  • Have a personal connection to MitoCanada and a genuine passion for our mission
  • Feel confident engaging with local businesses, government representatives, and community organizations
  • Have experience participating in MitoCanada activities such as awareness initiatives, advocacy efforts, fundraising events, or community gatherings

Each year, up to three individuals are chosen to be MitoAmbassadors program. 

We are accepting applications for the MitoAmbassador program until June 30th, 2026. Selected ambassadors will begin their term in September 2026.
