MitoCanada

For 15 years, MitoCanada has supported the Canadian mitochondrial community in funding transformational research, delivering impactful education and support programs and collaboration opportunities which inspire, empower and connect while enhancing quality of life.

The human body is fueled by trillions of mitochondria. These tiny energy-producing powerhouses provide us with the energy we need to keep our hearts beating, brains thinking, lungs breathing, and muscles moving. Healthy mitochondria are essential to living a healthy life.

When mitochondria are dysfunctional, the impact on the body can be devastating. Those affected can suffer many symptoms that cause health and quality of life to decline and, for too many, result in death. We believe that using our collective energy will empower us to reduce the devastating impact of mitochondrial disease.

Mission: To energize and support patients, families, and healthcare providers across Canada through education, support, awareness, and transformational research.

Vision: To create a world where all lives are powered by healthy mitochondria

Values: Collaboration, generosity, openness and inclusivity
