OVER $70,000 RAISED!

On May 31, 2020, TEAMmito hosted a virtual marathon event, where participants faced the challenge of running a marathon, while also competing in a Guinness World Records title attempt for “The most money raised whilst running a marathon distance”. The event launched our 2020 ScotiaBank Charity Challenge campaign.

The event exceeded our goals and expectations, and we are overwhelmed with the support as we tripled our fundraising goal. We raised $73,000 in 6 hours!

This is the first sporting event that we live broadcast and our six runners are phenomenal human beings who helped remind us what an incredible running community we have in Calgary. As of June 1, 2020, MitoCanada was the top Charity by a 3x factor: https://raceroster.com/events/2020/23445/scotiabank-calgary-marathon-2020/fundraising-organizations

MitoCanada would like to express our gratitude and thanks the runners, production staff, and volunteers. You made the live broadcast inspiring, engaging, educational, and informative to add to the fun/entertaining aspects that made the day a mind blowing success. Thank you!

THE UNOFFICIAL WINNER

We had a close competition on the fundraising front up to about the 30km mark, and then Graham Sherman blew the doors wide open when two $4,500 donations came in together catapulting him to the top of the leaderboard. The rest was history and Graham raised over $33,000 alone and is the new unofficial Guinness Work Record holder for “The most money raised whilst running a marathon distance”.
