Ses professeurs n&rsquo;ont pas compris et un professeur de gymnastique a m\u00eame dit \u00e0 la m\u00e8re de Louise que \u00ab\u00a0Louise ne faisait pas d&rsquo;efforts\u00a0\u00bb. Mais sa m\u00e8re savait que ce n&rsquo;\u00e9tait pas le cas. L&rsquo;attitude de Louise a toujours \u00e9t\u00e9 de faire de son mieux. Finalement, elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 orient\u00e9e vers une clinique neurologique de Montr\u00e9al et, \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e2ge de 18 ans, on a finalement diagnostiqu\u00e9 une maladie mitochondriale. \u00c0 l&rsquo;\u00e2ge de 27 ans, Louise a \u00e9t\u00e9 trait\u00e9e \u00e0 l&rsquo;h\u00f4pital McMaster. C&rsquo;est \u00e0 cette \u00e9poque que sa s\u0153ur a\u00een\u00e9e Rita, chez qui on avait diagnostiqu\u00e9 \u00e0 tort une paralysie c\u00e9r\u00e9brale \u00e0 la naissance, a \u00e9galement re\u00e7u un diagnostic de maladie mitochondriale.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Il a fallu 18 ans de plus pour d\u00e9terminer que les deux s\u0153urs \u00e9taient atteintes de la d\u00e9ficience en TRMT5. Il n&rsquo;y avait que deux autres cas connus dans le monde.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vivre avec la mitose n&rsquo;a pas \u00e9t\u00e9 facile, mais Louise reste profond\u00e9ment d\u00e9termin\u00e9e \u00e0 trouver la lumi\u00e8re et un but. Ses deux enfants adultes ne sont pas affect\u00e9s par la maladie. Louise est reconnaissante \u00e0 sa famille et \u00e0 ses amis pour leur soutien ind\u00e9fectible.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Louise n&rsquo;a jamais cess\u00e9 de donner en retour &#8211; qu&rsquo;il s&rsquo;agisse de faire du b\u00e9n\u00e9volat pour Trillium Health Partners et Special Olympics Canada, de partager son exp\u00e9rience v\u00e9cue avec des \u00e9quipes de soins de sant\u00e9 ou d&rsquo;\u00eatre une ambassadrice mito d\u00e9vou\u00e9e pour MitoCanada. Elle reste \u00e9galement active gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l&rsquo;aquaforme, qu&rsquo;elle appelle sa \u00a0\u00bb m\u00e9decine \u00ab\u00a0, qui l&rsquo;aide \u00e0 g\u00e9rer la mitose et \u00e0 se sentir au mieux de sa forme.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En 2015, Louise a fond\u00e9 Walk N \u00ab Roll 4 Mito \u00e0 Mississauga, en Ontario, apr\u00e8s avoir particip\u00e9 \u00e0 une autre marche pour la mitose, o\u00f9 elle s&rsquo;est rendu compte qu&rsquo;elle \u00e9tait la seule personne atteinte de mitose \u00e0 parcourir le trajet. \u00ab\u00a0Lorsque j&rsquo;ai finalement termin\u00e9, j&rsquo;avais 40 minutes de retard sur tous les autres, et tous les finissants \u00e9taient encore l\u00e0 pour m&rsquo;encourager \u00ab\u00a0, dit-elle. \u00ab\u00a0Ces encouragements m&rsquo;ont beaucoup inspir\u00e9e ! Ce moment a d\u00e9clench\u00e9 quelque chose de grand. Walk N \u00bb Roll 4 Mito s&rsquo;est depuis transform\u00e9 en un puissant mouvement national &#8211; et 2025 marque son 10e anniversaire.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Louise d\u00e9die d\u00e9sormais chaque marche \u00e0 sa s\u0153ur Rita, qui a perdu son combat contre la maladie mitochondriale, et \u00e0 toutes les vies perdues trop t\u00f4t \u00e0 cause de la maladie mitochondriale. \u00ab Je veux montrer qu&rsquo;il vaut mieux faire quelque chose que rien, et que plus on se d\u00e9passe, mieux on se sent \u00bb, dit-elle. \u00ab L&rsquo;exercice est un m\u00e9dicament, surtout dans le cas des maladies mitochondriales. M\u00eame si je ne peux plus marcher tr\u00e8s loin, je fais ce que je peux \u00bb.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 son action aupr\u00e8s de MitoCanada, Louise esp\u00e8re voir l&rsquo;organisation continuer \u00e0 construire ses solides fondations &#8211; en \u00e9largissant encore le soutien de la communaut\u00e9 et en trouvant de nouvelles fa\u00e7ons d&rsquo;am\u00e9liorer la vie quotidienne des personnes vivant avec la mitose.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Elle est \u00e9galement passionn\u00e9e par la sensibilisation et le financement de la recherche. \u00ab\u00a0Cela aurait fait une diff\u00e9rence dans ma vie et dans celle de ma s\u0153ur Rita\u00a0\u00bb, dit-elle. \u00ab\u00a0Nous n&rsquo;avons peut-\u00eatre pas encore de rem\u00e8de &#8211; et je suis trop \u00e2g\u00e9e pour b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier d&rsquo;une transplantation mitochondriale &#8211; mais la science progresse.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00ab\u00a0Je sais que j&rsquo;ai la mitose, ajoute Louise, mais la mitose ne m&rsquo;a pas !<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-3\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rejoignez-nous pour alimenter les 15 prochaines ann\u00e9es.
